### For business philosophy see [[What is a Modern Industrialist 4-6-21 Manifesto]] # My Manifesto From LE's First Draft A few pieces of this have been moved into the core content of the book, but I want to include the rest of the thoughts that led to this book for all you brave readers making it to the end. ## GMFTTW - Giant Middle Finger To The World Sometimes the world may not agree with what you choose to do. Despite the world not caring, you just need to show the world the only glimpse into your life that they need. Raising a giant middle finger to the world. Abbreviated GMFTTW. If your mom asks, just say it means "Grow More Food for The World". ## World Philosophy GMFTTW is the beginning step to my world philosophy, which is how I'd like to live. You never know, maybe it's how you might want to live too! Firstly, it is important to be conscious of the fact that bad opinions are common among people. This is not to say you should not listen and neglect everyone's opinions. People are multifaceted, they can have good opinions too! You should listen to people regardless of the apparent quality of their ideas.. I'm not sure if my opinion is good or bad for you. That's one of the big issues with people. They never know when they’re wrong. Many opinions are relative. Some opinions are just wrong as facts do exist. You can discern a bad opinion and which is a good opinion based on the direction you are going into, a bad opinion holds no value in that direction. It's important to know when you're right, even when the world's telling you that you’re wrong, and that's when you have to put up a middle finger. That could be when you think you're ready to start your own company, but your parents want you to wait just a few more years at your nice cushy desk job. Or that could be when you get scared of taking a fellowship, or a new job in a city where you don't know anyone. And at those times you got to give a Giant Middle Finger, first to the world of your mind that's trying to hold you back, and then, to the external world that's pressuring you to stay inside your comfort zone. You've got to get out there and do Awesome Shit! ## Eat The World Now on the occasions where you’re skeptical of starting your road trip to entrepreneurship, it's helpful to bring in a second tenant to join the ride: "Eat The World." You have to sample new experiences. New experiences are important because they give variety to life, they give new opportunities for you to learn. Continuously experiencing new things opens your mind to new possibilities and keeps you more creative, which is the real benefit of new experiences. ## One Species We are inherently animals. We have evolved into much more complex thought processes than those we have observed in other animals in order to extend and expand the survival of our race. We're all part of the same earth, and we're all part of the same human race. We are one giant ecosystem. We are - at the end of the day - in this together. Even your worst enemies and competitors are still part of the the same... ## Monkey-Ant Colony In reality, we’re not much more from space than a bunch of metal monkey ant colonies dotting the planet. That being said, you don't matter in the scheme of things and if somebody splashes mud on your pants or if you have a bad day and you want to take it out on someone, remember that they're part of the same bigger thing as you. Remember that they exist under different but similar pressures. And maybe let it off a little bit. As Michael Bloomberg recommends, just take five minutes before you do it. It works for quitting cigarettes and getting angry. Give yourself a minute, take a step back. Fundamentally, everyone is just another animal seeking survival in an environment filled with dangerous things that cannot kill you.
